WHAT COLOR ARE THE MOUNTAINS, MAY?

—What happens when absence becomes it’s own character entirely?

Within the journal of a woman-cowboy called May, a quiet love story unfolds at the base of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains during the close of the 19th century. A haunting refrain echoes through its pages as love twists to mystery and despair: “What Color Are the Mountains, May?”

The question invites more in its wake. What happens when absence becomes its own character entirely? When all we have are memories, who then is walking beside us? Secrets kept long by the hulking figure of the mountains on the horizon, perhaps it is only when the mind runs ragged for answers that the answers will be found within them.

Fusing classic western-wear material with modern tailoring fabrics; the collection brings the masculine and androgynous muse to the spotlight. Inspired by lesbian style-practices and the future of sustainability through upcycling, “What Color Are the Mountains, May?” pushes the wearer into mythicality.
